Get the Care You Need, Comfortably
Have you ever avoided your dental appointment for any of these reasons?
- You get clammy just thinking about walking through the door
- You hate needles or shots
- You always leave the dentist exhausted from anxiety
- You fear the noises and sounds in the dental office
- You have a strong gag reflex and strongly dislike having dental equipment in your mouth
Many Lebanon, MO residents experience some level of dental anxiety. While understandable, know that a visit with Dr. Cox can alleviate your fears. Most procedures that caused excessive pain when you were a kid have come a long way. Dr. Cox takes great pride in offering procedures that are minimally invasive and technologically advanced.
However, if a dental visit still causes undue stress, Dr. Cox can offer sedation options for a relaxed and comfortable dental visit. Sedation is ADA approved for a safe and effective way to ensure your relaxation during your dental visit.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide sedation is the commonly used form of sedation and is often referred to as laughing gas. Nitrous oxide comes in the form of a gas (nitrous mixed with oxygen) that you will breathe through a small mask at the start of your appointment. You will quickly start to feel relaxed and euphoric, as all your concerns melt away for the most comfortable dental appointment you’ve ever had. The effects of nitrous wear off quickly so you should be safe to drive yourself home with a smile knowing you made the right decision for your oral health.
Oral Conscious Sedation
With minimal oral sedation, a prescription pill is taken prior to the appointment. The medication will make you very relaxed, and a little drowsy and lethargic, but you will still be awake during the procedure. While you will be “conscious”, sedation does produce analgesic effects, which means your appointment will go by very fast and you won’t remember the details. You should arrange for transportation to and from your appointment as you will not be allowed to drive after taking the sedative.
Don’t put off your next appointment because of anxiety. Dr. Cox and his team are sympathetic and can offer a solution that is relaxed and comfortable. Give your Lebanon dentist team a call at (417) 288-4259.
